Eastleigh 1 - 1 Southend
Like another review said, welcome to the national league. The atmosphere itself was pretty good (especially when you consider it’s national league), and the fact Eastleighs equaliser came in the 89th minute definitely made it more enjoyable, but overall the experience was meh. I mean, it’s definitely more community based and friendlier than the higher tiers, but standing without the option of a seat whatsoever for 90+ minutes in the rain wasn’t particularly nice and you don’t even really get a good view of the pitch. Still, it’s national league, so it’s not like I was expecting much, just means I can’t really rate it any higher than this. I would like to point out that the fact they have to give the biggest stand (and the only one with proper seating) to the away fans is mental too.

Welcome to the national league. All 4 sides are different, which gives it something as otherwise it’s pretty anonymous. The new south stand does look good but is yet to even start to fill out. Getting any food or drink is usually a painful queue. Getting here by car means either a frustrating club car park, or a muddy walk to lakeview park. Getting here by train means that same muddy walk. The atmosphere has picked up lately but usually feels pretty stale. Most league games about 1/3rd full maybe? As much as I’m fond of it, pretending this is anything interesting or special for the level would be wrong.
